Description
Replacement Whipple belt tensioner. A/C Delco Belt tensioner should look identical to picture. Only one tensioner is provided. Picture shows front and back.
- Confirmed to fit:
- 89-95 Chevy/GM 5.7L TBI- 1.33L, 1.5L, and 1.6L.
- 01-06 Chevy/GM 5.3L/6.0 2300AX.
- 99-03 Chevy/GM 5.3L/6.0L 2300AXO.
Note: This tensioner is installed on a manual adjustment system, where an adjustable idler pulley determines the preset tension. Use of a belt tension tool is required to set the tensioner to the correct tension. Over-loading or underloading of the tensioner can cause early failure of any component that is operated by the same belt, including all or part of the tensioner. Failure/damage of components due to improper installation are not covered. Worn pulleys should be inspected at this time.
Note 2: On dual belt systems with a shared dual belt at the waterpump, a close inspection of the waterpump pulley should take place. It is possible for the supercharger belt to wear, and if ignored, will slip at the supercharger and at the waterpump pulley, causing premature wear to the supercharger pulley and a groove to develop in the waterpump pulley. The only correction is to replace the pulley or have it welded up and turned to a matching dimension. Many times, we will see customers chasing symptoms by rebuilding or replacing (Supercharger chattering, broken idlers and tensioners) parts constantly, only to have a worn waterpump and supercharger pulley tearing up the system.
